Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984)
written by Robert Towne and Michel Austin
based on the novel Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs
directed by Hugh Hudson
Rating: 3 / 4 – Good
I had first seen Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes sometime in the late 80’s. Seeing it again now in preparation for the article on Cinesthesia, I feel pretty much the same way: It’s a good movie, particularly during the first hour or so taking place in the jungle, but suffers a bit from a rather stuffy second act where Tarzan becomes Lord Greystoke. In any case, check out my friend Rogelio’s article here: Cinesthesia – Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes. He really loves it, and it almost makes me want to change my rating. But I won’t.
